Studio 10 (Final)
Located on the south side of river Maas, Afrikaaderwijk continuously faces a number of unresolved issues that inflict hardship on the community. The Afrikaaderwijk district consists of families with low-incomes, a lack of employment, many government social housings, and regularly encounters drug-related crimes. The majority of the population comprises of young adults and immigrants and as a result Afrikaaderwijk is rated as one of the most underprivileged neighbourhoods in Rotterdam. Consequently the surrounding Dutch community members perceive it to be a ‘Ghetto’ district. Mix Martial Arts Academy aims to regenerate the district and become an iconic site for the local community. The facility will teach the misguided community members to develop self- discipline, responsibility and perseverance. It will support the struggling young adults to build positive behaviours by integrating stability and routine into their everyday lives. The skills that they will gain at Mix Martial Arts Academy will help them build a better future and work to positively change the image of the community.
Design Studio 8 (helsinki competition)
In this project is to develop an interesting building for the Helsinki Guggenheim Museum competition. As this is a team project we manage to develop this organic shape building which will capture the inhabitants of Helsinki as well the world.
Diagrammic Maquette
The maquette studies the certain strategies of ‘adaptive reuse’ and explores the relationship of how contemporary architecture is applied to heritage buildings in a sensible manner where the original essence is not lost.
